July 2008

Hello everyone!
Ex Nihilo, the online magazine, came into existence exactly six months and fifteen days from this day. What we started as essentially an experimental effort, charting a completely new path without a predecessor, has become quite a substantial project in these six months – and all thanks to you readers and contributors! Of course, we know there’s still a long way to go from here and we’re working on them. Expect surprises!
As you must have noticed, we have shifted the date of publication from the first day of the month to the fifteenth. It had been unavoidable last month, since some of us were busy and the selection hadn’t been prepared; but since that we have discovered it is more convenient to put up a mid-month issue than one at the beginning, so we’re going to stick to that.
It is raining incessantly outside my window as I type this. July is the month of rains and all of us seem to be fixated with rain, water and the colour blue this month. You will find glimpses of it in our Special Feature, in photography, in one of the short stories, and not to mention the header art. Also, we have managed to work out the new photo-captioning feature of WordPress (you can tell we are all quite tech-retarded!), so the image-related features look much nicer now
Till we meet next month, here’s hoping for much love, luck and laughter.
Monidipa Mondal,
July 2008.

So why did Ex Nihilo die?
Ex nihilo ad nihilo?
Sigh.
Ex Nihilo isn’t dead yet. Vehemently dormant, yes. But it will still return.
